A global leader in groundbreaking research, treatments, and clinical care, UPMC has more than 40 hospitals in the U.S. and around the world. After acquiring five Italian health clinics, UPMC partnered with Starry Sky to relaunch the clinics' individual websites under a unified representation for the Italian market.
For UPMC, a health care provider with a strong focus on service and research excellence, our objective was to create an online presence that effectively communicates the value of their medical expertise while helping patients to find services and locations.
UPMC Italy Website
Starry Sky carried out a complete content relaunch of the UPMC Italy website, which was created by consolidating the websites of five Italian clinics acquired by UPMC. Our services included recruiting and supervising a team of 10 writers and 2 copyeditors working to produce more than 400 pages of content in Italian. UPMC placed high importance on presenting their highly advanced services with technical accuracy while ensuring the content was accessible to the average patient. Starry Sky founder, Livia Formisani, served as Managing Editor for the editorial team and oversaw quality assurance for the entire project.
UPMC Style guide adaptation
UPMC entrusted Livia Formisani with the task of translating and adapting their style guide for the Italian market, ensuring it reflected local specificities and cultural sensitivities. Drawing on her years of expertise as an editor, Livia crafted a guide that resonates with the target audience while preserving UPMC’s brand identity.
The document was also continuously adapted throughout the web relaunch to serve as a practical guide for the writers and editors working on the project.
Translation of core content
Our team also worked on the translation of UPMC core website pages from English into Italian for UPMC Italy. These high-impact, institutional sections were carefully adapted to ensure clear, professional and culturally tailored messaging. The result was a seamless alignment with UPMC’s corporate tone and identity to effectively engage the Italian audience.
